I guess it's a different kind of stress. I say if they have it so hard behind the desk, why don't they trade it in for a job at McDonald's. I hear they're always hiring.

Everyone cries about their job for one reason or another.
Working in a cubicle at a desk isn't hard...it's just boring, meaningless, etc. (And where I work, it's freezing cold, so go figure) For me, working at a meaningless job where I am nothing more than an easily replaceable drone is a source of much frustration. I am currently taking steps to get out of the cubicle and into a new line of work for that very reason. I would actually prefer a day of hard labor and getting dirty to a day of shuffling papers, dealing with customers, and being micro-managed.
It's all about perspective.

People like to complain, its just human nature. I used to work in retail with its unpredictable schedule, on my feet for hours at a time, working almost every holiday, lots of heavy lifting, no benefits, and very low pay. I complained about all of these things, then I got another job. This job is in a nice comfortable office in my own cublicle, strictly business hours (no nights or weekends), paid holidays, no heavy lifting (the heaviest thing I lift is a phone), with much better pay and benfits. It's the polar opposite of the job I left. I even have the added bonus of liking the people I work with. I have great co-workers and a wonderful boss. But...when it's a beautiful sunny day and the temperature is just right and I think, "I could be at the beach, or at the park, or just at home on my patio", I... like alot of other people... will start to complain. It's hard to be cooped up in a stuffy little cubicle on a beautiful day. I know that compared to many other people I've got it good. But that doesn't mean that I still wouldn't like to have it better. It's just human nature.

I worked in banks for 8 years, and as a mail carrier for almost 20. I HATED working in an office. First of all, you're not getting any exercise. By the time you leave work, you're mentally exhausted, so don't want to exercise. Next, you can't get away from the co-workers you don't like. If there's someone you can't stand next to you, tough luck! In offices there are a lot of back-stabbers. These are people who want your job or want to get ahead of you, so, they will go through your desk, listen in on your phone calls, access your computer, etc to get anything they can against you. This is not paranoid, it's reality.
I was MUCH happier out on my own route in the open, seeing plants & animals, talking to my customers, looking out for the old folks.......to each his/her own.
