The Uglies Trilogy 4rth book (I read all of the books) and Twilight. Both for teens or adults. I'm 18 and i love them!
The Uglies Trilogy--> Scott Westerfeld it is about a girl who is 16 and is in future. Everybody gets to be supermodel gorgeous with an operation but her friend doesn't want the operation.. Find out what happens! The 4rth book Extras just came out and I already finished it.. It was amazing. THIS BOOK YOU ABSOLOUTELY CAN'T PUT DOWN1
The Twilight Series --> Stephanie Meyer WOW! You have to read these! They are amazing. They are about a girl who falls in love with an amazing vampire named Edward and what happens. It is a book you can't put down! IT ROCKS!!
A Great and Terrible Beauty-->Libba Bray This book is about a girl named Gemma who goes to a boarding school after her mother gets murdered and she finds out all these different secrets.. Sorry I am kind of spacing about all of what it's about but it is really good.. It is totally elegant. I loved it.
Inkheart/ Inkspell--Funke A Girl's dad can read out characters in books. This book is very good but the 2nd book is wayy better in my opinion.
The Bartimeous Trilogy--> This boy is only 11 but he goes past his yearsand summons a demon that he most likely can't control. This book is very good!!!
Eragon/ Eldest--> Christopher Paolini THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!! It sounds kinda cheesy but it is awesome. It is about a guy who finds a dragon and what happens. I think the 2nd is better than the first but I totally couldn't decide.. lol!!
Pride and Prejudice-->Jane Austin I haven't read this yet but it is supposed to be amazing!!
Redwall-->Brian Jacques This book is awesome it is about a mouse and how an evil rat comes and he has to be a hero.. There are a lot of books in the series.
The River Between Us--> I read this book a long time ago but it was very good. It takes place during the Civil War and is about a girl.. It is very interesting.
The Book Thief--> This book is supposed to be awesome.. I own it but I haven't read it yet.
Vampire Academy-->Richelle Mead I just bought this book it looks really good.
The Outsiders--> lots of people love this book i haven't read it.
Thw Mistmantle Chronicles--> very good they are about a swirrel that is different and stuff. it is very good..
The Allison Rules--> This book is amazing. It is about a friendship and rules and dramaand everything. it rocks!!!!
Lord of The Rings-->J.R. R Tolkien obviously.
You should get Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, The Uglies Series, and A Great and Terrible Beauty then go from there

These might help:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book along with a brief summary of adult content. There is also a "Reader's Choice" list of favorite books, and a list of heroine sorcery fantasy books.
I hope this helps.

one of my favorite authors is Francesca Lia Block. her books are categorized as juvenile (teen) fiction. now it isn't historical or mystery, but the writing is brilliant. really, i own i think everything she's ever written because i can't not buy them!
i know my local library has at least a few of her books.
good luck!
