Her family members will wonder how to help her, and feel bad because they are not successful.

Her teachers will ignore her because there are many other students out there.

Friends, what friends? If you don't show any interest in anyone, how long do you think people will be around you?

People who are so apathetic and disinterested are really becoming self absorbed. They are creating a cycle, a downward spiral of self-pity. Either that or they are so completely fascinated by their own thoughts because they are geniuses and cannot relate well to other people who don't think the same way. So, I guess it depends on if this behavior bothers them. If it does, find a therapist.

I would hope that the first effect would be that she's seriously depressed and needs help. Her family and friends should see to it that she gets it, as she doesn't realize what's happening. Teachers should see this too - they're supposed to be trained to help, and this girl needs it. If it's just a general question, I would think after the inital helping phase, the normal reaction would be to ignore her after a while. But that's just my guess. I sure hope this girl seeks treament, and that her friends and family care enough to see that she gets it.
