On almost every question I ask on here, there's a couple people that say this to me. There is a war that is going on. Alot of people don't agree with it, but it's still happening. It's a very complex situation and there are alot of grey areas.
So please, someone tell me why I can't support one and not the other? Give me a really good answer.
Please tell me why I am not entitled to my opinion and me beliefs?
Are you going to tell me what I should believe? Or just tell me I'm wrong?
What if I told you, you were wrong and you needed to believe what I believe and if you don't you're a moron and you needed to shut up?
huh?
Answer all those question with due respect and remember my freedom of speech!

You are absolutely right to your beliefs and opinions. I too, support the troops. They are there because they are doing their duty. It doesn't mean they WANT to be there, they're just following orders.
However, those orders are what I DON'T support. Since this is a war we can't win, why should I?
I'm not a moron, you're not a moron. You are a person and you are entitled to believe or say whatever you choose, no matter who disagrees with you. Don't ever back down from your beliefs.

You probably can't support what the troops are doing, and not support the war. After all, they are doing War.

Personally, I steer clear of statements like "I support of our troops but not of the war." I do not support the war, and there are lots of soldiers who are doing things I don't support.

On the other hand, I can be grateful for the sacrifices that members of the military make, even if I do not support how they are being used by the current administration.

Additionally, I do want all the American forces to get home safely. I support giving injured servicemen and servicewomen all the help they need, and support helping them get jobs, college educations, and respect when they return.

First off, how are any one of you supporting the troops, with prayers, money, goods, a sticker... What? And what does "Support The Troops" really mean? People, get real. Your just following the lead Lemming.
I'm a Vet from the 70's that saw action, so those of you who think the cry of "Support our Troops" is any of the above, well it's just a fashion statment, change your clothes, and those of you that have never served, join. And those of you that claim to have served, check your scope again and see what you've done. After checking enough times you'll think twice and answer once.

I am a marine and let me tell you...........you can indeed support the troops without supporting their cause. Soldiers and the like DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD BECAUSE IF THEY DON'T THEY FREAKING GO TO JAIL!!!. Therefore not even all soldiers and the like support what "they" are doing overseas. You can still be a soldier and have different political and militaristic views than those in your chain of command. Not every General/admiral agrees with the war, would you call them un-american? The point is politicians are not commanders, and they are very much capable of putting troops where they should not be in the first place. Remember that for next time you blame a soldier for the decisions of the high and mighty.

Very few people would say that the Iraq war wasn't initially a mistake. That doesn't mean these people hope we loose or that we should drop everything at this point and leave. Does that mean people spit on the military because the Bush administration made a mistake? I hardly think so. The U.S. military is doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing and very well. It seems like a completely logical thing to me to be able to support the troops but not the initial reason for the war.

You can--I do it all the time.

The war in Afghanistan was necessary, even though our political leadership did not prosecute it correctly. The war in Iraq was and is stupid. It wasn't a part of the Global War on Terror, but it is now.

Our troops are caught in the middle. SUPPORT THEM! But don't hesitate to say how stupid you believe the war is.

Be a PATRIOT, and speak your mind!

NOTE: I'm a Vet, too. American Soldiers have gotten caught in the middle of STUPID too many times.

I need to say that as I travel, I see very little true anti-Americanism. I do see anti-American policy displays, and anti-Bush protests and displays, but by and large, the world is very much pro-American, especially in Europe. Most people have sypathy for troops being caught in the middle of the Iraq mess.

You absolutely can.

My brother is a soldier, and even he was pissed off about the war in Iraq before it even started.

We fully support the troops, just not the action they are being commanded to do.

And frankly, if a war is being faught for the wrong reasons, we owe our troops nothing less than to speak the truth and demand their return.

Also, neocons love to whip out how we are hurting the troops and demoralizing them. You are supposed to tell me that our troops are supposed to be fighting caliber, but their emotional boundaries are so weak, that they'll be distracted, demoralized, and hurt by some people suggesting that the war is wrong?

You can,you can also support the troops and not the president. In America we have the right to believe anything we want,we also have the right of free speech. Those who disagree with our beliefs or speech have the right to do so. Free speech is not free from reaction, but the name calling is not needed

I have freedom of speech too and say you are a typical liberal who lies about supporting the troops. What you say is like saying you support Hitler but not the holocaust. Go read the koran. Start with 4:34 where it tells muslims to beat their wives, then go to 8:12 where it tells them to chop the heads off of "infidels", meaning all non-muslims. Then remember that we are keeping the islamofascist terrorists from doing those things to you by stopping them in Iraq.
