How close are you to a Spirit Halloween Store?

13 year olds are picky. I told my son I will not pay20 bucks for an outfit made of practically nothing and will fall apart. Its fun and its cool but he is 15 now so I expect him to get creative and make his own. You know if you can find an eye patch in the dollar store most kids are making pirate outfits.
It shouldn't be too hard to put the rest together. Look at a pirate picture and go from there to match clothes. Good Luck

well, it'd be nice to know if you're referring to a girl or boy, because there are some serious differences in clothing standards. something that is really fun (and this is coming from a teen who has done this every year since i was about eleven) is going to a thrift store with a few themes or ideas in mind, and chooing out some crazy pieces that work with it. my sister once bought a red corset and some fish-net leggings, etc and was a pirate, i got some ragged old grey and black clothes and put on some makeup and was a zombie clown. there are soooooo many options, especially if you dont mind taking a bit of time to do a bit of 'customization' to the pieces you purchased
and make sure you go with your kid, to make sure that they actually like what you pick out, and that it fits them.

have a great haloween! i'm off to the thrift store!

This a hard one. Sometimes it best to make something from what you have around the house. But, one idea is wait. About a day or two before Halloween check stores like Wal-Wort or Target. They may put the stuff on sale to move it out. Only problem the stuff be picked over and you get what you can get.

She's 13, let her save and buy her own costume if she wants something pricey or have her make her own. Give the girl some choice in the process.

try party city, they usually have sales on halloween.
or you can create a costume at home.
ask him/ her what they want to be for halloween and see
if you can create the costume with the things you have
at home. be creative and it could turn out to be a really cool
costume.
