none I'm far too common to greet people with kisses!

Usually one however, I studied French for many years and there seems to be a very certain Savoir Faire about it. In the south of France, eg Nice, it seems to be 4 kisses on alternate cheeks, 3 kisses in central France , eg Lyons and 2 in northern France, eg Paris

Réunion Island (French overseas département) 2 pecks on the cheek, for family, friends, and close business colleagues. Handshake for the rest. Not doing anything, or just saying hallo is considered cold and somewhat rude.

I do one if it's a casual mate or 2 if it's family or formal greeting. But then you have to decide which cheek first and what if you both go for the same side!!
