I want a fish, but, one that can live by it's self, in it's own tank. What kind of fish is good? Also, what's the difference between salwater fish, and, freshwater fish? Which is easier to care for? THANKS!

bettas, goldfish, oscars
note oscars require over 50 gal of water
saltwater fish are much harder to keep than freash water. saltwater fish will die of pretty much anything from temp change to pH variations but esecially salinity if the water dosn't have the same salinity the fish will die. freash water fish live in ponds, lakes, and streams where tempuature and other variations occur so they are very hardy and can withstand temp changes and pH variations to a degree.
pretty much all fish like a buddy to keep company with and to play with with exceptions like the betta who need to live alone. I woud recomment the betta because they don't need a filter, heater, or much room 2.5 gal is a good size tank. also bettas don't like a high current in the tank so it's benifitial to not have a filter or air pump. since a filter is bad it's important to keep the biological bed in the tank good and healty so makesure to have somesort of substate like gravel and only do partial water changes instead of full ones and kick start the bed with some sort of bacteria medium like cycle and let it get settled for 5 days at least. remember to treat new tap water with declorinator. when buying your betta look for a betta with no signs of diesese(no ragged fins, bloted body, unusual growths, or other abnormalities)
also look for a beeta thats full of color and has it's fins open and flowing not clamped or held close to the body, look for a betta that dosn't hang near the top of the cup choose one that seems to swim in the middle and tends to be somewhat active. a;so NEVER UT A BETTA IN SUNLIGHT THIS WILL KILL IT SO PUT IN A SHADY OR DARK AREA!

Betta's are the best fish, i have had mine for about 2 years now, there real easy to take care of! Salt water fish live in a salt water tank, there very hard to take care of and very expensive! Fresh water fish are easier and you can buy a whole tank set for them, that has everything you need! Salt water fish are much prettier and brighter though!

All fish can live by themselves, but some have to because

they're aggressive (like betta's...but they can live with african

dwarf frogs) Betta's look beautiful by themselves, because

they're big and colorful....but you could also have one goldfish.

"Saltwater fish" is pretty self-explanatory, they live in

saltwater, and freshwater fish live in normal water that is

dechloronized. Freshwater are easier to take care of, 1.

they're cheaper, 2. you don't need a specail filter 3.you don't

need to add salt or buy saltwater from the pet store.

perhaps an african dwarf frog for a short on an analogous time as dont enable everyone tell u they dont get vast I had one for 15 years and began him out in a 2 gallon aquarium and he ended up in a fifty 5 gallon aquarium and replaced into as vast as a melon and ate a dozen worms another day they seem to be a exciting puppy although I personaly might positioned no fish in that small of an aquarium. the reason being the frogs breath air they simply stay interior the water even though you will could desire to alter his water daily. Fish rely on the water for each thing and the tank being small the water will grow to be polluted a lot speedier than working example a 20 gallon tank. So in case you like fish pass with 20 gallons or greater.

Saltwater fish are very hard to keep even if you're very experienced. Freshwater is definitely easier. Here are a few fish that can live by themselves:

1-A betta
2-An african dwarf frog
3-A goldfish.

If you want a fish that can live by itself, i recccomend a beta or an angelfish. I have a beta that used to be alone and it did well. ( bought 2 corydoras yesterday to put in its tank) My sister has an angelfish that is alone and it is doing very well also. betas and angelfish are also very pretty.Freshwater tanks are way easier to take care of then saltwater tanks bty.

a betta fish is inexpensive and they are very pretty they are fresh water fish and and for your other ? saltwater fish are harder to take care of because you have to keep the salt in the water regulated or they can die hope this helps

well, any kinda goldfish in at least a 10-20 gallon tank all by themselves since they get really big

A betta in at least a 2.5 gallon tank with filter and heater

Freshwater is easier and also less expensive to have
saltwater is very delicate, and you should have experience in freshwater before you atttempt on having a saltwater tank

Hope that helps
good luck
