What are some do's and don't during an interview?

Be on time. That is very important. If a person is 10 minutes late for an interview I will not interview them. It is a respect thing. Dont make the interviewer ask you the questions, offer information about yourself & why you would be the person for the job.

Do's:
- good eye contact
- open stance (don't sit with your arms crossed)
- smile a lot
- talk about your efficiency, dependability,
- when asked about your faults or challenges, also list how you've been working to improve them.
- read up on the place you are interviewing so you can reference it when asked why you want to work there.
- get there 5 minutes early. have the route mapped out beforehand.
- have questions ready so when they ask if you have any, you are prepared and look interested.
- pay attention if you feel like you would fit in there. if you don't like the place, you don't want to end up working there.
- when asked how much you think you should be paid, give a range. look on salary.com for an estimate.
- get the book "What Color is your parachute?"
- Relax!


Don'ts:
- do not speak poorly of former employers.
- do not wear perfume or cologne. you don't want to give the interviewer an asthma attack.
- do not smoke right before you interview.
- do not lie. you will get caught.
- do not put anything controversial on your on-line profiles (myspace, etc.) that employers might possibly see.
make the profiles private if you'd rather.
- don't eat food that will give you gas or bad breath.

Never same um. That turns them off. Never look down like you are not sure of yourself.Always look them in the eye and be sure of you answers that you give. Its ok to look away but don't let your eyes wonder they will think you are not interested in what they are saying or in the job! Never chew gum that is so rude. Always be well groomed. You don't have to be all dressed up unless its that kind of job. I nice shirt and pants will do. Just look professional but not over the top. Firm handshake is always good. Confidence is the key. Try and have some knowledge of the job even if you have no experience! Good luck to ya. I hope that I could help!

you should deffinately wear nice clothing so you look more professional. if someone were to walk in wearing beach clothing or something like that, the employers probably wouldn't take them seriously. also you should keep good eye contact (if possible) and answer the questions to your full extent. also try to bring outside situations into the interview, if possible, to show them that you've been in situations and you can handle them.

do not lie when answering your questions because if you don't consider what you said and instead do the opposite, they might fire you. don't try to make everything into a joke. they're looking for someone who is the best and could help them, not somebody who is just average.

i working in staffing and i see a lot of crazy things, you want to come in dressed professional regardless of what kind of job it is. please bring in at least 2 copies of your resume, never go to a interview without one. never wear tennis shoes some employers feel disrespected if you don't care about the way you present yourself. stay away from negative conversations, never use bad words regardless if the person that is interviewing you is really cool and down to earth. keep the interviewer interested in you never answer their questions with I don't know.

try your best not to say your weak points. and if they ask you about your last job(if you had one), then tell what you liked and what you didn't like, but don't be mean about it. smile the whole time. dont wear ugly clothing. don't be shy, it may seem weird bragging about yourself, but thats the whole point of an interview!

Don't pick your nose. Don't eat bean burritos before the interview. Do bathe and use deodorant. Say what you think they would like to hear, not necessarily what pops into your head.
