I deal with conflict two way but with the same basic formula. I try to deal with the conflict as it arises if it's feasible. Some times that's not possible, some times you just have to walk away in order to calm down and not end up saying something or doing something that you'll regret. When you do confront the conflict you have to do it as calmly as possible and as civilly as possible. Yelling and screaming only gets people's defenses up and makes things even more tense than they were. Trying to remain calm and collected also try to treat them with the same respect that you would want them to treat you with. Keeping calm and collected it the secret to dealing with conflict no matter who it's with and coming out feeling that you were both heard.

It depends on how important the issue is to me and the people involved. I can be very outspoken, but I try to avoid making it personal if possible. I state how I see it. Speak softly. People listen closer then.
