okay, so i am rooming with a person who is very nice and polite, but sometimes she doesn't realize that i need my own space or time alone. it gets kind of annoying sometimes, but i guess i'd prefer that over a mean person or a drunkard. should i room with them again next year? i mean, i'd be in a suite with 2 other people who are nice and respectful of each other's solitary time. maybe i should just politely let them know that sometimes i need time alone? how do i do that? thanks.

Be honest and tell her to give you some space. If she doesn't like it, tough luck.

I'd b honest and let that roomie/roomates know that u need some down time and u'd appreciate it if they'd respect ur space as u would do the same for them. U don't want to come off rude but that's just who u r.

Like the above post... if u could afford it get a private rm. so, u wouldn't have this issue unless u have peeps coming over all the time buggin u then u'd b right where u started.

It's a catch 22 damn if u do damn if u don't so, weigh ur options b4 acting hastely!
U may need one of these nice peeps to help u out in a jam someday and u wouldn't want to have a falling out with them over something petty!

good luck I personally never experienced the dorm life it seems interesting!

Maybe you can just try and be honest with your roomie. Tell her that you would like private time just like she probably does. See if she'd be willing to set up a schedule where you each get time to have the room to yourself.

I hated having a roomie in college. Eventually I got a single so I could have some privacy. It was so much better.

When I needed my own space, I generally took myself to the student union building or the library. You could do a lot worse for a roommate. You should keep her, and find your own privacy, without ostracizing yourself or kicking her out of your room.
