that would be a good idea. but then the cats would eat out of the dog food bowl because the dog food would taste like the cat food.

I just feed my dogs cat food! If you look at the protein content, it is the same as the high dollar dog food! Dollar tree has 3 1/2 pound bags for a dollar! When I had 15 cats and 2 dogs, it only cost me $1.00 a day to feed them all. They went through 1 of them a day.

forbidden fruit is always sweeter.
The dogs like it more because they know they shouldn't be getting it.
Same goes with cats - I cook meat for my animals and at night the cats and dogs get exactly the same stuff but I still have to remove cats from the dog dish and dogs from the cat dish !

Its because a dog eating cat food is the same way that we humans eat junk food. They can eat it, but at the same time it's not healthy for them and sometimes it can get them sick. Same thing for cats.

George Carlin jokes about cats preferring the flavor of cat but to that of normal cat food. OK you might not think that is funny.
They do make treats that both like called "Liv-a-littles". They are freeze dried meat (no additives) and are loved by both dogs and cats.

I know when we had a dog and a cat, the dog ate the cat food as a territorial thing. As if to say "try and stop me, my furry little roomate"
