I cannot tickle myself. Can you?

Scientist say that the laughter is a reflex of tickling, so they think it requires the element of surprise for psychological reactions. And since you know it's coming when you tickle yourself, you won't have that muscular or psychological reflex.

In other words, because the reaction to being tickled is half mental and half to do with the element of surprise. If you do it to yourself, your brain knows it is coming and so the nerves will be prepared for the contact.

I can though I don't try. We touch our own bodies day in a day out. We don't associate pleasure or displeasure from our own touch as much as from someone else's. Particularly if it is someone we like. Plus, it is much easier to control the power of our own touch, thereby not using the touch necessary to produce a tickling result.

part of tickling is surprise. I is hard to sneak up on yourself.
