I had a c-section and was on pain killers and I drove the same day I got out of the hospital. My mother told me not to drive and I asked her why, she said because you can cause pain in the private area or even more heavy bleeding just by the movement of your legs while driving. I drove anyways. Had no problems. Depends on the person, I was hard headed. ; 0 )

Because your brain and reflexes are not top notch for a while, and you may experience what they call "Brake Hesitancy" and could slam into someone. There is a law in California that prohibits recently delivered women from driving because of it. You might feel normal and great, but your brain and functions are not fully there for a week or so. 2 weeks to be safe.

Beats me, I've never heard of that. You should avoid sitting upright for long periods of time after having a baby -but a trip to the store is no problem.

I was told by my nurse that after birth (whether vaginally or cesarian) your reflexes are slower than normal so there's a higher risk of some type of accident. Your body is basically just tired and getting back to normal.

my friend drove home when she had her daughter
but i wasnt allowed to because i had a c-section
and if i had gotten into an accident or something
my stomach could rupture and i could bleed to deathe
its not safe physically to drive right after you have a c-section.

That's a new one. Unless a specific reason was given by your OB, or if you are on pain medication that makes you drowsy, you should be fine behind a wheel.

false......this may be reccommended for those that have a c-section though....and even then it would depend how the mother feels post birth

i was up and driving within 3 days after both of my births

Because a lot of women are anemic and dont know it, it reduces their reaction time, and they can be faint on top of it.

I drove right after having my son, so I dont think its a rule. lol.

Because you're tired!

Plus, some Moms are put on pain relievers that can cause you to be drowsy.

Unless your doc specifically tells you not to, that's not been my experience at all...and I've had stitches both times so far.
