My son has severe asthma and contracts pneumonia on a monthly basis. The doctor has decided that it is partly due to the age and state of our home (we live in a rental that has not had the greatest history of tenants).

We are currently living on only one income due to the fact that my son is constantly ill, so our budget is very tight.

Unfortunately, we make too much to qualify for Section 8 housing assistance, but we would not be able to afford much more than what we are paying now.

Does anyone know if there are any kind of foundtations out there that provide housing assistance for severely asthmatic children and their families?

You can talk to the Asthma Foundation but I doubt that housing will be included in their services. Asthma is a condition that is often found in low income families due to poor housing stock and all the problems that go with it. Keep looking for affordable housing. It really is out there if you look long enough. Your son's health will be worth the time you spend.

Contact Habitat for Humanity. Even if they can help you they may be able to give you names of places. Also, do you attend church? If so talk to your minister. Congregations sometimes will help out a family in need. Also contact the local housing authority in your area and file a complaint about the condition of the house. Landlords are required to make sure houses are in livable condition before renting them out. Have you contacted the landlord about this? My Mother-In-Law has rental houses and she NEVER lets the places get this bad.

Why don't you buy an OZONE machine and put it in your son's bedroom?

I received a frantic call from my sister about 6 months ago telling me my dad was in the emergency room due to an astma attack.

I read somewhere that ozone is a good treatment for astma so I took my machine to the emergency room and plugged it in.

Within 30 minutes my dad was feeling better and went home, with my ozone machine.

6 months later, he is off his inhaler and astma medication.

Now he does not go on vacation without his ozone machine.
Yes, he actually carries it on the airplane with him. (Smart Dad)

Hope this helps.!
