First, think about what makes your situation unique and then consider what modifications may be necessary for the advice given and always consult your doctor! For instance, in my case, the constipation is due to many medications; therefore, I have had to increase the amounts of curatives to a higher degree than the answers listed in your forum. Start small and build slowly! My doctor loves what I’ve been doing because it helps with constipation, lowers my cholesterol, and it is a healthier diet than I used to be on.
Some people are allergic or hypersensitive to certain foods. Try eliminating and reintroducing one food item every few weeks and see if your bowels don't like a specific food.
Avoid or decrease bulking foods such as chocolate, rice, banana, animal fats & meats, dairy (cheese, ice-cream, butter...). I’ve even had problems from ingesting too much whole grain foods and fatty foods.
Although caffeine is a stimulant and may get your bowel muscles contracting, it is also a diuretic, which will tend to dehydrate the body. Also, remember that alcohol is a diuretic and a depressant, rather than a stimulant. People tend to forget that chocolate typically has caffeine and emulsifiers, so it dehydrates and bulks.
Drinking too much water, too quickly, can lead to a condition known as “water intoxication” and to a related problem resulting from the dilution of sodium in the body, “hyponatremia”, so don't go overboard! Also, replenish those electrolytes! For more information: Start with the link below. In addition, most of our food contains large amounts of water. For practical demonstrations, play around with dehydrating food in the oven, making smoothies in blenders, or if available, run items through a juicer.
Over eating can be a very bad idea. As an example, I recently binged on about 6 pounds of pizza… I have learned my lesson!
Drinking hot liquids tend to work better than cold liquids. Just try to have something like stewed prunes, hot broth, or a non-caffeinated drink, if possible.
Having an adrenaline rush before a race, while scouting a rapid, or before going into big surf, have all been quite productive for me.
Always try to have a bowel movement when the urge is present. By ignoring it, people risk decreasing or loosing the urge, which may then lead to constipation.
Perform a search online with words or phrases such as “organic constipation remedies”. There is a plethora of information!
Just so you know what is really in your food, you could buy whole organic items such as flax seed, Kashi blend, rolled oats, etc. They can be cooked as is, or ground into a coarse flour with the use of an electric grinder.
My current curatives per day:
Note: all measurements taken while foods are raw/dried
Exercise: Stretch, aerobic, and resistance.
2-3 L. of water or Gatorade (I weigh: 180lb.)
4-6 cups of prune juice
5-10 dried plumbs/prunes
6 TBSP flax seed (freshly ground)
1 cup rolled oats or other whole grains
1.5 cups of frozen berries
3 pieces of fruit (typically plumbs)
24 Oz. fresh vegetables
A few TBSP of nuts and seeds
3/4 cup of cooked legumes
1/4 cup whole grain brown rice
1/4 cup corn
I'm not a doctor, and I recommend that you consult one about the advice listed here. :)
Good luck!

Eat foods high in fiber, including raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, bran, and dried beans.
Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water or juice a day.
If you're constipated, it's very important to drink plenty of fluids -- but not all drinks are created equal. Alcohol and caffeinated beverages actually cause fluid loss, making constipation worse. On the other hand, water, vegetable and fruit juices, and clear soups are excellent fluid replenishers. A hot liquid in the morning may help trigger the reflex that gets the bowels moving.
Supplement Recommendations
Vitamin C: 1,000 mg 3 times a day. The dose can be increased by 1,000 mg a day (up to a total of 5,000 mg a day) until bowel movements become regular.
Magnesium : 400 to 800 mg a day as needed. Take with food; reduce dose if diarrhea develops.
Flaxseed, ground: take 1-3 tbsp ground flaxseeds or 2 tsp. ground fenugreek seeds. Drink 8 glasses of water a day for these to work.
Prune : Drink 1/2 cup juice or eat 3 or 4 prunes each morning. Can be used on a daily basis.
Dandelion Root: 1 cup tea 3 times a day. Use 1 tsp. dried root per cup of hot water.

You may be seriously dehydrated, that simple. Ask yourself how much do you weigh in pounds and then drink your weight divide by 2 in ounces for 30 days. If you weigh 150 lbs, drink 75 ounces and more if you are working hard or playing sports.
Your body runs on water, it is the delivery system needs the right amount. I work on medical imaging applications showing inflammation and it was amazing how many people were constipated. Some of them had bowel movements every 7 days or so. 100% of them experienced dramatic changes within the 30 days, weight loss, better skin, better nerve conduction and they had bowel movements every day.
Using meds is toxic to the body, try everything natural first and of course while working with your health professional.
Not bottled water or distilled water, they don't belong in a body looking for electrical conduction.
There is also a whole leaf aloe vera in Texas. The difference between this and other aloe is this company has an FDA registered product. Contact Coats Aloe, ask for Bill as I worked with hep C patients that were constipated and on morphine. Coats Aloe drink is natural and cleaned them out...off the morphine

Do yourself a favor, forgo the pills, especially the "gentle pink" pills which can take up to 24 hours to work. When you are constipated, you need relief fast-not sharp pains for hours.
The best thing for constipation are suppositories that you can buy over-the-counter in any drug store. Buy ones that state on the box that they are glycerin (like the Fleet brand). Within 15 minutes, the horror is over and you can continue on doing whatever. The only challenge is holding it in until about about 15 minutes. You'll know when it is time to go and the deed will be done pretty quickly, in a matter of minutes-no waiting.
After I had surgery, all of the meds made me constipated and I took the "gentle pink" pill laxative. I was in so much pain from that and my surgery, I wanted to die. I keep running to the bathroom praying it would be over, it was an all night-early morning event for me. It may seem gross to use suppositories but it is the fastest and most effective.
If you want to keep yourself regular, or if you are prone to constipation, make sure to have a little caffeine in the morning. It is a diuretic, helps you to go when you need to. Moreover, make sure you have fiber in your diet from leafy greens (salad), an apple, or if you can buy flax-seed (which is usually ground up) that you can find in the organic section of your grocery store (or in the veggies isle) and put it in your food. Flax-seed is flavorless and has omega-3 naturally in it, many health benefits there.
Overall, get yourself some glycerin suppositories! You will be thankful that you did!

i believe prune juice is the best because it is a all natural laxative and artificial laxatives aren't good for you anyway and should only be used in operations. so drink about a half cup to a cup of prune juice a day until your better i would start at a half cup a day and if that doesn't work use a full cup. i think sun sweat prune juice with or without the pulp is the best. prune juice will clear you out even if your really bad.

Drink LOTS of water and take a stool softner. I had this issue while I was pregnant and the softner really worked without having cramps.
Also, eat some prunes or drink prune juice...I found that if you mix the prune juice with some apple juice...it really helps the flavor. These are tried and true remedies and really work. Take care!

Leave the medicine alone and eat celery, fruit, nuts, and bran. Don't eat cheese or bananas. They bind you up. Drink lots and lots of water.
