More accurately, the evidence is that humans and modern apes evolved from the same common ancestors, which are now extinct. It isn't the case that chimpanzees became humans.

Dear heart, our species and the apes evolved from the very same ape-like critter millions of years ago. The apes you see on Animal Planet and other cable shows isn't the fellow he once was, and neither are we humans. Along the way, the two parted company, so to speak. What became modern apes, like the beautiful silverback gorilla, traveled one path and we human folk traveled the high road. When you get right down to it, it is our brain. Oh, lad, it is a wonderment, and no mistake.

Apes are apes. They are here to stay. They never evolved into humans. This is only what scientists believed. So far they have not been successful in proving it. I suggest you check out the website below for some serious reading on this theory.

Humans did not develop from apes. Humans developed from a primate called hominid. Apes did not.

The missing link, it is purported, was bred with apes and the result was humans. That would explain the uprising of a new species (humans), while maintaining the existing species (apes).
There is a large group of people that believe the missing link came from a planet other than ours...

Because humans never did evolve.
It is estimated that 40 million mutation events would be required to produce 125 million differences in the DNA sequences to make humans. There’s not enough time in the evolutionary explanation for this to happen (Haldane’s Dilemma), and no new information is generated in these types of mutations anyway. Evolutionists have falsely claimed that chimp and human DNA is up to 99% similar. These studies only looked at gene coding regions, which are a tiny fraction of the actual 3 billion base pairs in the human genome.

Because apes were meant to be ...apes. Humans were meant to be humans but sometimes they act like animals, thinking they evolved from animals.
