Gene's brain isn't fried on drugs..that's the big difference. His on stage persona has nothing to do with his family persona..as witnessed by the intelligence of his 'kids.' Of course, being happily 'unmarried' to a Canadian would keep him grounded for certain...

Gene Simmons ... Ozzy hasn't been a good role model to his children, and I have no respect for a parent that fails to lead their children down the right paths in life. Gene's kids are well-grounded, know where they're going in life, and how to achieve that. Ozzy's kids need to stay away from the drugs, in order to straighten their lives out. You can't blame them tho, children live what they learn ...
