You should watch de movie "The machinist" or maybe "Equilibrium"
Both are excellent movies

My fav between that time period is Lauren Canyon. It is an indie film that is well cast and great. Not too sure why you are only looking at this time period because Metro Land is pretty good (relationship based) and the Prestige is a great movie.

I suggest "Captain Corelli's mandolin" and "Reign of fire". They're both pretty good. Mind you the first is more of a Nicolas Cage movie.

I would say Shaft. Were he was a priveleged racist rich kid whom killed a black guy( Mekhi Pheiffer of ER) and Shaft ( Samuel Jackson )m had to arrest him etc.
