Hey, I lived in 77049 when I was in high school -- I worked at the Blockbuster Video near the Food Town at Wallisville and Uvalde. I worked there when I was 18 and had a blast -- got to rent as many movies as I wanted and always got to see movies that were in theatres on dvd. I also worked at Academy and that was really fun. The crew was fun. You also get discounts at Academy and they give good raises after you work there 6 months - I remember getting $1.10 raise after 6 months -- which was cool at the time -- I was making over $10 an hour when I quit to get an office job --

There's a wal-mart at the beltway and Wallisville. They're always hiring. I believe you even get a discount on stuff once you work there a certain amount of time. I'm sure you're parents would love that. There is also a Discount Tire right across the beltway from the Wal Mart -- maybe you would like to learn how to change brakes or change tires.

I hope my suggestions helped....

Fast Food places are a good place to start, but there are other places you can work. Check with the Office of Employment Security (there must be something like that in Houston) and get ideas from them. I don't know what the legal working age is in Houston, but I think 16 is old enough for a part time job. Be ready though - you WILL have to work and in some cases, work hard.

Good luck.
