Take a screwdriver an lightly tap Tap TAP on the pilot's fuel supply tube while depressing the knob. This idea is to ostensibly loosten any sediment cloging the fuel line. It'll prolly work after that, you're just a little plugged up is all...
If this doesn't work easily, replace the tube.

when you hold down the knob you have to keep it pressed down for minimum 1 minute while pilot is lit
the flame must be sharp and hit the sensor" aka thermocouple" slowlu let up on knob and if it stays lit turn to on it should fire up soon after.
if not & flame goes out relp thermocouple they are cheep and easy and clean the pilot at same time

well first off you have this question in the wrong place but it sounds as though the thermocouple has gone bad. basically what the thermocouple does is sense the heat from the pilot light to keep the pilot light lit and if the thermocouple is bad it will not allow the pilot light to stay lit therefor the furnace itself will not light as it needs the pilot light on to be able to light

Most commonly that indication is that you are not letting the pilot itself burn long enough. Light the pilot and let it burn, by itself, for 3 - 5 minutes. Then slowly turn the knob to ON position.

press the pilot button push it in.
Light it
Hold it down for 1 minute.
Then release it and turn it to the on position.
If that does not stay lit.
Your problem is the thermocoupler.
Simple fix - it is the copper wire bolts to the regulator and next to the pilot.
