If your PC has a wireless card then yes you can pick and recieve Broadband Internet service from a Hot spot in your area, Some are offered free to there customers from those that set up the wireless Network
Others require you to Pay for the use of this service.

Any modern PC can use wireless. It only requires a wireless router, and for each PC to have a wireless adapter.

If your PC doesn't have a wireless adapter, you can buy either a PCI or USB version of a wireless adapter.

If you're using a laptop then you're pretty much stuck with the USB solution only unless your comfortable taking your laptop apart.

Linksys, Netgear, and Belkin are all good vendors to look at when buying wireless hardware.
