We're flying out to San Diego for our son's graduation from Marines bootcamp and he sent home a list of candy/snack items he wants for family day. I'm wondering if we can take that stuff in a carry-on bag. I've read the toiletry restrictions, but didn't find anything about candy, etc. Would it be easier just to buy the goodies at the PX? Last thing, What is the weather like in San Diego this time of year? We're in WI. Thanks!

The only restriction that I can think of is liquid, but cookies & candy would be fine. You are only allowed one carry on bag (plus a purse or briefcase). Also from what I hear the PX has good prices, but then you have to wait until your son can take you.
The weather in San Diego is in the 70's. More than likely you might experience hazzy mornings and cool evenings (it's on the coast), but the days will be very warm. Believe it or not, California does have some rain during this time of year, so a umbrella or light jacket w/hood might help!!! Enjoy visiting with your son.

Weather in San Diego is a bit cold (mid-high 60 degrees & colder during the night, low 50's), bring a jacket or warm sweater. As far as food restrictions. Candies are allowed as long as it does not have any form of liquid. If you feel you'd rather buy candies from Duty Free Shopping inside the airport after security, then do so...but I still think the candies you will be bringing should be fine. Some examples of candies with liquid that are not allowed are: Melted Caramels, the chocolates with the filling in the middle.....that should be it.

I was just in San Diego for a visit and when flying back home the people that sat next to me brought a whole cooler full of crackers, pepperoni, cheese.......I think the candy will be fine to bring. I am from San Diego but no longer live there........as far as the weather I am not sure. It was nice when I was there but I heard it rained yesterday......you are going to So Cal......usually nice but you never know what can happen.

The only restriction I'm aware of is liquids. Nothing over I believe 3 oz bottles (3-1-1 rule), and ALL of them must fit within a single quart-sized ziplock bag.

Check the TSA website for more information.

That stuff is fine.
They are real strict on liquids like soda and stuff.
But you can get throug the booth security staff
The in the airport the snack shops sell stuff that you can bring on the plane
If you are nervous... put the stuff in a suit case and have it go to the baggage section.

I get nailed on the matches as I smoke and I had a nail file to clean my finger nails and they took that one from one once.
