What scares me is the fact these kids are going to be running this country some day. I hope they're doing more then just video games---and I mean that in a nice way!!

I don't see the point in cheating, and if I had the codes I wouldn't give them to the kids to use. For most of them seem to feel, I have to be the best, and I will be by any means available.

I confess. Not only kids but this senior too. I play 'Virtual Villagers' and 'Sims' and used the cheats on both. Since I know the games better, from the cheats, I enjoy playing them more.
Go figure!

This was the first I'd heard of cheat codes!
But to answer your question, I guess for the same reason adults choose to cheat at cards [even when it's not for money]

Seems to me it takes away the thrill of the game. Except unfortunatly it seems with just about everything.....people aren't trying to fairly go through lifes games....they're always looking for the loophole, a way around it......so maybe "cheating" has become part of the strategy.

with some games, the cheat codes make it more fun to play by doing things you normally cant do, but with most games coming out now, there are no cheats and only strategy guides and FAQ sheets.
edit:
ok, i dont even know how my answer deserves a thumbs down, anyone got a clue?

Cheat codes DO seem to defeat the purpose.
I just wonder where sand lot ball, jump ropes, board games
all went -- a lost art 'cause no one has any imagination any more ?

Lol! That's a very good question.
We don't have video games at our house... Mom thinks they are a waste of time and money. Frankly I agree! :P
