I am 6 weeks preg. This is my 6th day bleeding. I have been to the doctor twice now for my quant levels and they didnt double but DID go up some numbers. I go back for my third one tomorrow. I still feel completely preg. and I am not cramping just period bleeding. Do you think I can still carry my baby to term? I know I could have misscarried but is there a chance I didnt? Any words of wisdom would be so much appriciated I want my baby here safe and sound.

That's tough...You are right on the brink of being able to see a heart beat..It starts beating in the sixth week, so right around 7, they can see it most of the time...I think it's odd that you are bleeding this long, and not having a m/c..When I had mine, I only bled for a few days, then it kicked in and I had it..I guess if it gets heavier, and there are clots, that would be a really big indicator...Try to be patient..I know the days are going to be very very long...I am sorry..That really stinks!

Here is my experience, I hope that it helps! I spotted at 5weeks, then 3 times more.... The last time was 16 weeks and it was a good proper bleed!! Each time they called it a threatened miscarriage....Each time I flipped out! I had no cramping or pain, my cervix was closed... All of my blood levels normal and each time baby was ok with heartbeat. The ER docs tried to figure it out to no avail... My OB did all kinds of tests and ultrasounds only to come up with the conclusion that all was well. She explained it just may be "sloughing" or, nothing at all. Unless you have painful cramps, heavy bleeding (enough to fill a pad in an hour), bleeding with blood clots or bleeding with a fever, I would try not to worry. Some women just spot during early pregnancy! If you have any of the above symptoms go to the ER immediately! I know it's hard but any time I stressed about it, it just got worse! The only thing my OB told me not to do was have sex until 12 weeks. After that when I bled at 16 weeks, I was told not to have sex for 3 weeks. Other then that, just try to take it easy!
I've had an early miscarriage before this pregnancy.... It was VERY painful, the cramps were aweful with lots of rectal pressure... It seemed like my whole insides where going to come out of my rectum! The bleeding included clots and was very heavy and steady for about a week. So as you can imagine, I was EXTREMELY paranoid and freaked out with this pregnancy. Just remember that spotting is NOT always a sign of miscarriage. The best thing that you can do right now is stay really hydrated (drink tons of water) and try to relax. Call your doctor and make an appt! There are many reasons for spotting/bleeding in early pregnancy! Sometimes there is just no reason at all!
My very best wishes to you and your baby!

Hi! There is definitely hope for you and your baby. I bled with my son early on in my pregnancy, enough that at one point I passed a clot and thought I lost him for good. I had an appointment set for the next morning, so I didn't rush in the er. I made sure to just lay and rest until I absolutely had to get out of bed. My appointment was very smoothe. I told my doctor that it was over and that I lost the baby the night before, but he was determined to find a heartbeat, which he DID!!!!! He did an ultrasound and there was my baby! My son will be 4 in February.
Chin up sweety and have faith! You have to have a sense of humor and openmindness with pregnancy! I'm sure you and baby will be fine! Keep us posted.

Some women bleed each month while pregnant. My cousin did. She had a perfectly healthy baby, and an otherwise completely normal pregnancy.

My mother, her 3 sisters, and my grandmother all had periods for the first 4 months of their pregnancies. We're not talking a light spotting.... a heavy flow, for a full week, just as normal. My grandmother had it for all of her pregnancies, one of my aunts with all 4 of her pregnancies, another aunt with both of her pregnancies. It's not impossible, rare, but not impossible. Ironically....the women in my family also cannot produce milk (not sure why though). Being in the medical field, I've questioned them many times.
So for those that say you absolutely cannot have a normal period while pregnant, you can.

there is every chance that you havent miscarried, maybe when you go to the dr get then to check the heartbeat if its detectable at 6 weeks. I know people who have had a period every month of there pregnancy so in some cases it is normal. Best of luck to you

Some girls go through their whole prenancy having their periods... Great decision to go see your GP straight away though, and doing follow ups as well. Good luck honey :)
