is so much unjust in this world at the moment, and the one thing Mr Brown can do, is to allow parents the right of knowledge, the god given right to protect their children, and stop hiding the animals that live amongst us. I don't want a witch hunt, or to go on a vigilante manhunt, all I desire is to know if a paedophile lives in my local area. Children need protecting, and if we knew that info, everyone would be extra careful of the little cherished ones.

There are up sides and down sides to this.
Every parent wants thier child to be safe and free to go out to play without having to worry who is going to grab hold of them or abuse them or God knows what. I believe that to be perfectly understandable.
However, you have to also take into account that if all paedophiles were named and shamed, then, maybe not you, but other people would see it thier right to go on some vigilante manhunt and seek justice... there would be absolute riots!! also, there are situations where confussion will come into play..
what if someone innocent just happens to be unlucky enough to look like one of the abusers in question... he/she ends up in a hospital or even worse a grave because of mistaken identity!
You also have to look at the family of these abusers, they have done no wrong, yet will be judged, abused and looked down upon by society none the less.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, I'm not condoning what these people do, I was sexually abused myself for 2 whole years on a weekly basis as a child...I still carry the scars and I hate paedophiles as much as anyone else, if not more. I personally don't think they should be allowed to walk this earth after being caught/convicted but looking at this logically and avoiding my own issues within the subject, I don't think they should be named... far too much chaos will come out of it. Too many people will take the law into thier own hands, all hell will break loose and innocent people will get hurt.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone

Whilst I can appreciate every parents desire to keep their children safe, I believe that if it were made public knowledge where paedophiles were living there would be vigilante groups on our streets every night. Even if only the parents living within 4 houses of each paedophile were told it would still lead to the same problem. All it would take is one comment in the pub after a few beers.
Well said, Heather mk2.

It's so difficult, if you knew there was a paedophile in your area but didn't know who you would suspect everyone. If you knew who they would be hounded out, good thing but the government would never allow it. The only answer is to be extra careful all the time, a convicted criminal is one who has been caught, there are many who aren't caught. There are visitors to your area or people driving through.
Look after the little darlings with everything you've got it's all you can do!

So you might not want a witch hunt but many out there do.
There have been to many cases of mistaken identity, many people don't have the brain capacity to be allowed information like that.
We should be extra careful of our children regardless. Get to know anyone they are spending time with and trust your instincts. Warn your child of the dangers strangers can prove and be vigilant.
I don't think releasing the information will help anybody and I am not interested in protecting paedophiles, it is about maintaining a civilised society without mobs battering down the doors of Paediatricians thinking they interfere with children.
And, before anyone starts, I am a parent.

Yeah, you do too want a witch hunt.
No matter how careful you are with getting names, etc., two things will happen that are not helpful: there will be some on the list that are no threat to children (statutory offenses for one) and you will only find the ones that have been apprehended.
You would do better to teach your children to be careful, take care and watch out for your children--know where they are and who they are with, and watch out of all children, even if they are not yours.
We had fewer successful pedophiles when we knew our neighbors. Get to know yours.

You should be extra careful of your little ones regardless. The man across the street might have a record, which probably means that he's keeping his nose clean, but do you really know anything about the nice man who lives next door to you? The one who's the leader of the church youth group and lets all the kids swim in his pool?

Have you checked at your local police station?
A few years ago one of my neighbours did and he was given the information by the police. They won't tell you who it is, but they will tell you if some known paedophiles live in the area. And yes, we have two.

Because you want to know that you want to make friends. Because it makes it not intent in real perigos its children as its local roads. Yes it always has an interest of paedophiles but he is very rare a stranger of supplicates it and most likely static to be in its proper family.

Go to your local police dept and ask. If they won't tell you, try to go to your state government's website and try to locate the site that lists sex offenders and their location. By law, they are required to register in the town they live in . I think it is within 2 weeks of moving there, and then every 6 months there after.
