i would imagine that they have people on payroll who's job is to check the major sites like answers and hit people who rightfully down their products. mccafee and norton coders write most of the windows viri on the web as well. to get you to buy their products sort of creating a need for their junk.

My first guess is that it's because they say something like: Don't get that. It's bad. It's stink and stuff like that.

Norton and McAfee is good security programs.

If you think they are hard on your system it's most likely not configured right or your computer is not not to good.
Norton is not for beginners.

It doesn't matter
I use McAfee and i think that its a great program, so i dont care what people say they just hear from others and say the same,

Maybe cos a lot more people use other AV's which are free and not so byte hungry as Norton! And a lot more effective??

they both are hard on ur system ..basically they suck ...i stopped using free crap cuz they suck as well avg..avast...ad-aware...all ...you get what u pay for .......spend a bit of money and check out tech sites for reviews ...u will HEAR same ..im using kaspersky INTERNET security 7 ....has it all USES SO LITTLE !!...awesome ....u get what you pay for!!!

they try to take over your computer
and also seem to slow it down
