i gave birth 4 weeks ago, im having a bit of smelly discharge now that my bleeding has stopped. when i go toilet i can smell it but i wouldnt say its really bad just smelly in a not nice way. I have no pain in my tummy or anywhere and no symptoms of an infection. Is this normal after giving birth?

An infection smells like death. Its a smell like no other smell, and you know it when you smell it because its sooooo horrific. Its usually partnered with a green or yellow discharge that smells equally as bad.

Because your hormones and pH are changing from pregnancy and birth, you will smell yucky down there, and it will be a while before you smell like "you" again. In the mean time, so long as you dont smell like road kill, or your discharge is sick colored, you're fine.

I had the same thing after giving birth it was after the bleeding had subsided a bit however Im not sure it was 4 weeks maybe like 2 or 3 but I had it and Dr said it was normal. You might check with your dr just to be sure.Congrats on your new baby!

I had the same thing and i didn't do anything cause i noticed a smell but i didn't think it was that bad, eventually it developed into a bad infection which resulted in quiet a bit of pain, i suggest checking with the doc believe me better safe than sorry !!

Doctors say that if there is an odor, there could be an infection. Having said that, I had an odor after my last baby (after the bleeding stopped). I did go to the doctor, but he said it was normal to have some odor at that point. If it's something that you feel could be a problem, it's probably best not to risk it. Go to the doctor. Good luck.

I am pretty sure it's normal , if I remember correctly I had a weird smelly discharge after I had my first child as well. I told my doc about it at one of my followup appts and he said I was OK. Tell your doc of it worries ya too much :)
