restart it
i believe you move the hold button and then press the center button and then the apple icon will show up

I had to format mine when this happened lost all the songs and all :( and i had to contact apple because i couldnt find any info however i believe it is now on the website. I'll just have a quick look http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304997 hopefully this helps

this happened to me ...nothing would unfreeze it even connecting it to itunes..so i left it alone until the battery ran out...plugged it in and charged it-good as new

It it has a battery and it can be removed, remove the battery and leave it out for about one minute, then put the battery back in and reload the tunes.

re start it ??? can you take out the battery is yes then do so or swich it off and back on
