During the World Cup he was ineffective and lazy. He may have got Footballer of The Year, but reputations are hard won and easy to loose. Since that time he has doggedly made little effort for the England squad. He returns to Chelsea and plays a different game - he looks like a different man in a blue shirt. Then there's his wage. He's offered what? £130,000? And he wants another £5k??? And he only wants it 'cos other players have it! How much of a child is he??? And it's the fans who are paying for this arrogant man's wages - blokes with mortgages and families, who are earning average wages, that he expects to stump out week in week out for his luxury life-style. He's going to have to do a lot to win back his reputation - foremost being some hard work on the pitch. Until that point - let the boos ring out.

he is not a true pro all he is interested about is MONEY!!! gareth barry deserves his place because he plays with his heart and he wants to do well in every game he plays, i personally think gareth barry is a better player than lampard, lampard only LOOKS good because of the players that he play with at chelsea. lampard seems like that he doesnt wanna be out on the the pitch when he plays, he is more worried about what to but next to put in his mansion. with players like that playing for england we will never win euro 2008. mclaren knows what he has to do but will he be man enough and big enough to do it

I'm a man utd fan and the last thing I wanna do is stick up for him but can anybody honestly say they are gonna wanna play at 100% if your own fans are booing you?? I know when I play football I know for myself if I am playing badly and I'm the one who wants to improve this the most. I think thats the english fans problem....they always have to find one person to blame...no-one can face up to the fact that they may just be a crap team!!

I can understand why the England fans are booing him, and I agree that his performances have not been up to scratch, however, I think that booing a player does not get you anywhere.

Booing a player just makes them more downhearted and makes them play worse. The England fans should be encouraging their players to play better, not booing them and making them play worse.

Once he gets his confidence back, he will get back to form; however, if Barry and Gerrard continue to play like they are, it will be hard for him to get into the team.

he is a charmless mug, when he is playing for cfc he gets all mouthy with the oppositions fans giving it large whenever he can. when he plays for england he is found out to be not that great and he cannot take it when the fans let him know he is not good enough at international level. he should never be picked to wear the england shirt again. if the mug had any class at all he would retire and get back to cfc.

No matter what people think of him, you never ever boo or degrade a player like that when they where their National jersey. Its just not right. The players come together for the country not their clubs and when they do you give them support !!

I agree he should keep getting boo'd until he picks up his game. It should be an honour to wear the England strip, he makes it look a chore. The team plays much better without him in it.

You've summed it up perfectly mate, anyway Gareth Barry in the team his days are hopefully numbered in the international scene!

The fans dislike him because they think he's lazy and lacking the bulldog spirit and it's an opinion I agree with. He's detrimental to the team and should not be in there. The team plays much better when he's not in it
