The things you mention are also the same reasons unions came into being. Without a voice for the working person, business did anything they wanted no matter how dangerous for the workers. Without regulations in place we might as well go back to using child labor and pay slave wages. People seem to confuse capitalism and business. Unchecked capitalism isn't good for business, it squashes competition, consolidates our choices and promotes greed. I'm not happy with the trend in capitalism to send our jobs overseas while importing cheap labor, that kind of capitalism might be good for business but it's not good for America.

There is a point when regulations get so wonderful they pull of stakes and go somewhere else with their jobs.
Not all government regulations are bad but when companies leave or when small companies go out of business under the weight of the government there is a problem
EPA lets talk about that wonderful group. San Diego wanted to clean up the river that divided California and Mexico and who step in to stop them THE EPA!
FDA which is it in bed with big pharma or not?
When a company finds a problem with their drugs and pulls it like in the case of Vioxx. Liberals are all over it to sue them to death.
We do need some government regualtion but how about some common sense.
If companies are leaving the US maybe it is the way we are doing business.

If they own it they feel they can do their own regulation.
If it weren't for government "interference", they could "own" the means and paths of transportation. If another airplane, or other vehicle, got in their way and refused to back off quickly enough they could just shoot it down, much as Blackwater operates in that Libertarian Paradise that used to be Iraq.
Similarly each business mogul could have his own living arrangements at the security levels he thought necessary, and likewise for all of his "workers". Food and water could be grown or purified on premises, and he could employ tasters as a last resort.
Household wastes could be dumped on the slums below so they could use them to grow their own food, perhaps after gleening them for valuable scraps.
As for how the others would manage? If they had any "Morality" they would be rich as well and able to take care of themselves. Since they do not, they are just evil and need not be cared about.
So yes the Gang Of Pirates really feel that way, just check the winger answers

In general government regulation is bad. Yes, it forces people to meet minimum standards, but so does a free market. Very quickly, companies putting out bad product would go out of business. The problem comes when it stops being a free market because the government invests in one or the other company, which now has a free ticket, and in order to prevent abuses, the government has to step in and enforce minimum standards. This has happened with road building, food manufacturing, commercial contracting, car manufacture, and certainly drug and medical appliance manufacture. It has happened with insurance companies, and publication of newspapers. Actually, it has happened in every segment of our lives. Now there are people specifically hired by companies to insure compliance with government regulation and others hired to see if the regulations can be gotten around. No longer is the consumer the arbiter of what he eats, or wears, or uses in his daily life, and this is problematic in a free society.

When the government bankrupts Social Security and all my money is gone, am I glad?
When I have to wait in line at the DMV for 3 hours because of the incompetence and inefficiency of the government employees, am I glad?
When the government bankrupts Medicare, am I glad?
When my president is letting Osama Bin Laden go while he's having sex with an intern, am I glad?

Gov't regulation is need now more than ever.
Workers still need wage and labor standard protection. The FDA provides a great service to Americans. The EPA makes companies stay clean, and helps our enviroment. The USDA keeps our food safe. The FAA keeps the airlines safe, secure, and controlled. Product safety, the enviroment, fair labor standards are so important.
Nothing wrong with any of these agencies!

No, they are unaware of all that because their mind set has been set. They have heard this credo all their lives, and they believe it:
Government is bad, wasteful, incompetent. All functions need to be privitized. The capitalism is good, efficent and capable. It is bad to regulate businesses. The free market takes care of all abuses. Taxes should only be used for our military.

I'm a conservative and I don't have a problem with the examples you have listed. Are you saying, all Liberals that are in Business want to be regulated by the Government, but the Conservatives don't? That's BULL SHI-.

That is not true. You are setting up a straw man argument.
It's excessive regulations that conservatives know choke businesses.
A good example is that farmer that was not allowed to use the water that ran through his land, because of an endangered fish.

Who said government regulation of business is bad? That's government's job. Unfortunately, it's trying to do so much of everything else (like trying to run health care or retirements, when people should take care of that themselves) that it screws it up, like everything else it touches.
