Yesterday a number of warnings came up on my computer about spyware, saying i had 52 threats?! i think it happened because i downloaded some programme of the internet. it told me that my personal information was at risk etc. So, I bought an anti-spyware programme of the internet called Winspycontrol for £40 but it doesn't seemed to have worked. It took about 3 hours to scan the whole computer and when it got to 100% it didn't remove the spyware. Now it freezes about 32%. My computer is so slow, keeps freezing and some things don't come up at all. I'm going to bring it to a computer expert to help me but i can't go for another few days. Will my computer be ok if i remove the enthernet wire so there is no internet connection to the computer?? Does sypware only corrupt and take info if the internet is on? Will it be ok to leave if for a few days? i'm really worried!!

You only pick up nasties surfing the net or downloading stuff. If you use the machine just for offline stuff for now, it won't get any worse. Make sure your other machine is well protected though - you need an anti virus programme (AVG) spyware protection (Adaware and Spybot) and a good firewall.

They infected your computer and installed their advert to make you buy their program. Of course the program doesn't work because there probably is no spyware, just the advertising, you need to clean up your system with anti-virus.
