I have a 1 1/2 yr old boy and by christmas he will be almost 2. I am not used to boys (obviously) and have no idea what to get him. He likes music and cars and balls and stuff like that.

A 2 year old boy is probably going to have a pretty short attention span so my advice is to buy him a bunch of smaller things and don't spend much money on anything. I usually make things for kids this age. Here are some ideas:

A set of bongo drums

A dress up box with things like hawaiian shirt, tool belts, a coyboy hat, anything a boy will like

A stack of plain paper and colourful crayons

A colour in book (you can make this yourself by getting colour in pictures off of the internet and binding them)

Some cheap trucks from a dollar shop

Lots of wooden blocks painted in colourful patterns

A box you have made into a car

A colourful piggy bank with a plug in the bottom and lots of coins (make sure they are big enough so he won't swallow them) so he can have fun pouring them out and putting them back in.

A couple of colourful picture books

A colourful, small, soft blanket

Use your imagination and just fill a box with all of your colourful gifts. Remember to wrap each one individually in bright, colourful paper because at this age unwrapping them is half of the fun!

I think the best present you can give him would be teaching him about Jesus as he gets older. But the next best thing would be to start some traditions and hold on to them. That's why I love Christmas so much is because we have so many family traditions. We have dough boys and ham and cheese strata for breakfast on Christmas; we let the wrapping paper just lie on the floor for a long time in the morning. Christmas Day is stress free. We always make sure that Thanksgiving and Christmas are stress free because we're celebrating Jesus' birth. Anyways, just my ideas.

get him a car set, with a track and stuff. Also if your american a base ball set or if your english a rugby ball and one of the cool helmets, he'll think its a fab present because its grown up. Good luck.

he's two years old, I don't think it'll matter. What do you want him to do? buy him a new car, a fun ball thing and some books that you will read to him. Kids today have too much stuff! he doesn't need anything but your attention and love. Give his as much as he'll take while he'll take it. ^.^

odds are the kid will just play in the boxes anyway.

i noticed on some commercials on nickolodeon here lately, some new fisher price toys targeted at 2 yr age group.

-bounce and spin zebra
-anything little people
-rock n roll trike (it's a tricycle that atttaches to rockers. without the rockers, it comes with a handle so you can push them or they can ride it as a tricycle)
-tough rumblin dump truck
-baby grand piano

At 2, you have learned or will observe that they have more fun unwrapping the box then anything else.

Get him a set of hot wheels or Tonka trucks.

You have answered your own question. Buy him what he likes, but don't spend a ton of money on him. Believe me that will come soon enough.

He will like what ever you get him.

Merry Christmas
