This is with respect to the previous question by me - " prove that there is no positive integer between 0 and 1"

I couldn't find a reply button in the post I made to reply to the posts. Can someone first tell me how to reply to posts in one's own thread?

Secondly, I got this theorem and proof from the book on "Number Therory" by Thomas Koshy..

I have posted the proof as it is in the book. I have no intention to establish the proof. I just thought the author's proof is flawed. If that was not the case I was wrong. Just wanted to confirm that.

Thanks to all of you for your answers :)

There should be a button somewhere on your panel that says "add additional details" (I remember it was in the menu under the pencil icon before the change in format, not sure where it is now). You can use that to reply to the posts on your last question.

Anyway, to answer the question, the proof is perfectly valid. In a proof by contradiction, the intermediate steps do not have to be _true_, they merely have to be things that would be true IF the assumption made in the proof by contradiction is true. For instance, in the proof you cited, the author is not asserting that there actually IS a positive integer in the set S = {n∈ℤ⁺: 0

Firstly, you can't choose a best answer until the time limit has passed, because you have to give it time. So if you check tomorrow you will be able to choose a Best Answer.
