At which growth stage do you think cyanogenesis would be most appropiate as a defence mechanism in plants

I suppose it would depend on the life stage at which the plant was most vulnerable. For example, many plants are very vulnerable in the seedling stage. Also, it's possible that a plant will have more chemical defenses when flowering (to prevent predation on precious flowers and seeds).
