Being a REAL conservative?

Nothing. But it is often taken to the extremes of close mindedness. Just as liberalism has been taken to the extreme of rebellion in forms such as drugs, though that has been dying out since the sixties.

There's nothing wrong with being Old fashioned conservative! But! I can't believe how far to the right the people of America have gone.
This right wing Republication Administration supported by other right wingers and many chicken hawks' are destroying the very meaning of the American brand of democracy.
This Administration has weakened our military reserves, our strategic methods are in question, our budget is depleted and we are going steadily into deep deficit, unprotected borders and reduced military effectiveness in the event of another world crisis.
We have to clean house and none of the candidates for the Republican Party have shown any initiative for doing so.
There's no new ideas, no cure for the mess in Iraq, just continued plodding and destruction of men and material and money.

What is wrong is the fact of its unwillingness to evolve. Having good values is a wonderful concept, but the fact is that society is changing and the message that strong conservatives have is not. Therefore most of the younger generation is tuning this message out and blowing it off and old angry men trying to still matter. For the conservative message to become effective again, it has to learn to change its image and propaganda techniques so that the children of tomorrow will be open to it.

Nothing. I believe I am an old fashioned conservative. I keep reminding my Republican elected officials what it means to be conservative.

When we have a Pres that calls the Constitution a G D piece of paper is it a wonder values have left the building also?

Following those values would keep the US out of exploitative, foreign wars, and that is where the money is now.
