I'd say that you should apply for unemployment. When the state seeks to have your employer pay for your unemployment vs. the state due to lack of cause, this will tell you if you have a case or not.

Good Luck!

For you should not have rated out your co worker, You should have just left it alone in the room. Now that the customer was rude big deal your job was just to return the item that was lost. I know that if I was co worker I would have mad also I would not have hit you but I would have been mad. Look man there is more to this story than you are saying, I am sure this was not the 1st time or even the 2ND you had something happen at work look just get it over it, Unless you want to tell us the real truth?

Telling the boss what happened was a smart thing to do. That way, when the customer called to complain - the boss was not blind sided and would be able to handle the situation.

Your co-worker should have been an adult and not expected you to lie and cover for him. If he is grown up enough to work security and show his as@ to people - then he should be grown up enough to tell the customer his name.

The fact that he not only expected you to condone his behavior but to cover up for it and not tell the boss just speaks to his poor character. The fact that he hits you unprovoked just confirms it.

It really sucks what happens. Talk to your boss - ask him if - given the situation - that you did not initiate the fight- would he be able to give you a favorable reference for your next job.

No, in fact there are many states which allows an employer to fire an employee at will, without so much as giving them a reason why. There was a 60 Minutes pies about the about 4 months ago.

So what did the customer do, that wanted his name? File for unemp. there will be a hearing, and if you get it, youll know how to explain getting fired on future apps.
