I have nothing against gays or lesbians. They are all human beings. But I can not help but wounder, every time I see an avitar on here with a rainbow in the back ground, If that person is gay or a lesbian. I guess you see the rainbow more so on the female avitars. I did not know the rainbow was the international sign for gays and lesbians. Untill I went to get a tatoo and I picked up a rainbow. The artist asked me. You do know what the rainbow stands for. And I go ya, after it rains. He laughed and said no, It is the international sign for gays and lesbians. So for those of you who are not gay or lesbians, and you have a rainbow in your avitar. You may want to remove it. Or people may get the wrong impression.

The original "gay" symbol was the pink tri-angle--which is about as dull to look at than dust on furniture. Gays pretty much agreed---and stole the rainbow concept and made it their own.

The original rainbow symbol concept was to signify a sign from God that ALL colors of people should and can live together harmoniously.

Frankly, they should give up the rainbow--and adopt a "rainbow triangle" to signify their lifestyle(s).

Yes its been used for the last 15 years or so... Originally designed by an artist in San Francisco, the colors mean:

* hot pink - sexuality
* red - life
* orange - healing
* yellow - sunlight
* green - nature
* turquoise - magic
* blue - serenity
* violet - spirit

A note on the previous answer: the pink triangle was originally used by Nazis to show who the gay P.O.W.'s were in their concentration camps.

For those of you who really CARE what it originally WAS until somehow it became what it is now--- it was described many many years ago as being a "sign" from God to us that the rains had stopped. It is printed in many versions of the Bible as such.

Humans have a way of mutating things or inventing their own meanings, and for whatever reason, it just gets accepted - just like the word "Gay" - - I am NOT criticizing anyone here - I just find language mutation and acceptance of it odd.
