The circumference of the Earth at the equator is 25,000
miles ( 64,749.70 sq.km)

The Earth rotates in about 24 hours. Therefore, if you were to hang above the surface of the Earth at the equator without moving, you would see 25,000 miles pass by in 24 hours, at a speed of 25000/24 or just over 1000 miles per hour (2589.98 sq km/hr).

the rotational speed of the earth at the equator is about 1.038 miles per hour, at mid latitude the speed varies depending were you are for example the earth hardly moves atoll at the poles hence long days in summer.
the diameter of the earth is about 12.756km at the equator. if the earth suddenly st oped turning the atmosphere would still spin at about 950miles an hour but the techtonic plates in the earths crust would violently shift causing unparalelled destruction possibly destroying all life on earth
