Hi Wisdom.

I think that there is a difference between giving up hope & accepting reality.

Sometimes a situation looks bad, very bad. It may cause someone to lose hope. However, they need to look at the situation realistically. Are they losing hope simply because they FEEL the situation is dire? Or is it truly a fact that nothing can change the situation?

If it is a fact that nothing can improve the situation, one should not give up hope, but merely accept the reality. Then, from there, they can try to make life as good as possible with what they have left. One can make the most out of a situation.

For example, what if a person found out they had an incurable terminal illness? Should they give up hope? No. They may have lost hope; but that can be temporary. They can find out the true facts & start from there. If the doctors tell him or her that yes, indeed, there is nothing that can be done & that this illness will inevitably kill them, should they just give up hope & die?

No, they should not. First, they need to take the best care of their bodies — get the best pain medicine so they can be comfortable, for example. Then, they need to work on their emotions until they come to accept the reality of their situation. Only then can they make peace with God, with their loved ones & make the most out of the remaining time they have left.

They can be free to enjoy as much of the time as they have, enjoying the company of their family & their friends. There is much room for gratitude.

It is not good to give up hope, because then we are giving up on God. He has promised to take care of us, & He has promised not to give us more than we can bear.So we must always have hope. Things may not always go the exact way we want them to, but they will work themselves out.

We will be OK.

Peace.

Yes and No. Yes, there are times in life that we have to accept. Not all is given in a silver plate. And i am very much open to realities. It is a good thing if you see it at a different perspective because you learn to accept what nature wants for us to deal. It is a bad thing on the other side, since one tends to give up and not giving all his chance that it may possible. I believe it is a matter of holding to one's faith. If you believe on something then make the most of it. Anything is possible in this world so long as we still live and breathe, Indeed, i don't give hope for hope springs a new fulfillment to one's life.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

i think hope is something very subjective. Just like how some people see the glass as half full and some see it as half empty. May genetics, the environment and people affect how u think.
i have lost hope many times. Hope is that elusive something everyone is searching for. For those who find it, your lives will be changed forever. Foe thos who don't, live still goes on.

I am basically optimistic. I had more than my share of failures and losses, downfalls and tragedies in my life. But somehow I never gave up hopes and continued with my struggles, always hoping the darkness of midnight will not remain for ever and the sun will surely shine after some time. The sun did shine and eliminated the darkness fully.Giving up hope means one has accepted defeat. Will you accept defeat ?

i'm very close to losing hope for something, and each day it seems more out of reach..

but it's bad to give up hope.. 'cause if you don't have hope then there's no point to life..

and that's the worst place to be..

Losing hope is one thing, and giving up on it is something else. You could still have hope for something, yet you have given up on it.

With out hope, fear rears it's ugly head, and fear is a killer of
the Spirit, If I loose hope it means I am to much into me, I
must circle back to, Letting go and let God, and not want control over things that I cannot change.
