After being married for over a year, this was the 2nd Christmas together. In addition to showering her with jewelry and gifts, I saw a foot bath at a department store that was at a very good price.
A foot bath. Can't go wrong with it, right? I mean, it heats water, vibrates it, massages the feet. And she stood all day, so I know her feet hurt.
No way! When she opened it, it might as well be a bottle of arsenic.
I did not live it down for nearly 5 years.
And the funny thing is, a coworker of mine did the same for his new bride and got the same treatment.

we gave my aunt this really really ugly vase we bought in a lot at an auction. it was a gag gift (we actually bought her a nice perfume set from victoria's secret). when we bought the lot from the auction, there werre a few things i wanted out of it and a few things she wanted out of it, the ugly vase being something neither of us wanted. when we got back to her house, i tried to leave it with her. didn't work that way. soooo...christmas rolls around and i come across the ugly vase. the light bulb in my head pops on and i go out and find the prettiest box to put it in. when she opened it christmas morning, she laughed so hard everyone quit opening presents to see what was wrong. she thought it was hilarious (told her she WAS going to end up with it). now it's going to be a family tradition. we've decided to give "elephant" presents...stupid/ugly/useless (yet cheap) gifts...the one that gets the most stupid/ugly/useless gift gets a trophy....the ugly vase.

Once I got this girl stuff I didn't want anymore. But they were in good shape.
I did it cos when I was young (this was years ago) my mum said sometimes it is good to make your own presents.
