It's disgusting. It doesn't match with the Akropolis hill, the monuments arrount it and the older building of Makrigiannis regiment which is made of stone. And lots of ruins of ancients buildings were covered for this monster to be founded on.

well, it's mixed...on the one hand I like it a lot, as an engineer I know that from now on all buildings will be taking advantage of natural light...on the other hand I think that the building should be more "traditional" to match the atmosphere of the area around the Acropolis...
one way or the other, we needed a new museum, the previous was awful...
I hope the new one will be more organized, meeting the standards of museums abroad...

Dear Maria,
the new museum of acropolis won't be used according to the general idea that it has been constructed!!
They have spent a lot of money to build a new museum, in order, first of all, to protect the marbles and secondly to offer to the visitors the chance to see the same time the exhibits and the view of the Acropolis (the real place which were in the past)!
I think it was really a very nice idea and that is why it has so many glass...but that is not going to be realized because 2 old block of flats, which belong to "eponymous" Athenian citizens hide the view of the Acropolis for the new museum!!!! so, what remains ....?

I haven't seen it,but i do think it's a stupid idea to take something away from the acropolis(like they did today),take it from where it is supposed to be and where it has been for so many centuries to put it in a modern building which obviously aesthetic wise has nothing to do with the beauty of Acropolis....

Similar to the international airport of Athens: no flavor and rather irrelevant to Greece but...functional...

I cant accept such a futuristic museum under a sacred place..
But nowdays everything is possible, remember in my country, the bridge of Calatrava in Venice Grand Canale...
Shame

I wonder who and with which creteria chose this "proposition" among others (supposingly there has been a contest) and how much the architect got for this project.
I would reject it even if it was offered for free, like a donation.
It does not offend only the monument but also even the rock on which the Parthenon is standing on.

its bigger and more wider that the old one, also the officials have discussed leaving empty spaces for the ancient greek sculptures that are at display in britain in order to raise more awareness and pushing the brits to return them ,its location at foot of the hill and its space gives opportunity for more to enter and enjoy it,just hope the old one wont be demolished and left as an art monument also,
