first you should dress properly that means to cover most of the body, don't smile to much with men ,be natural and don't look them straight in the eyes
during the day I don't think problems but careful about the night

It is not only in Delhi, but in any place it is not safe. The present day exposure of pleasure and publications, advertisements and free distribution of condoms by Government agencies to ave against AIDS, open access to porn literature and internet pictures, videos and hats make every violent/ hard core person to assault on women, if a chance comes. Everyone and no one is responsible in the present society, in the name of highly developed/ sophisticated advance in electronics and software products.The present cell phone cameras/videos can make out videos wit out the subjects knowledge. The body in a photograph can be cut into parts and one' body below neck can be pasted to the head of another and so many torture methods are available, even can be learnt from Cinemas that are being made now.
In the face of above how do anyone trust about safety to a woman traveling alone?

Depends upon what the reason is for travel and where you will stay.
I think it is safe in most places. It is not so frightening as is said here.

It should be. Wear modest clothes. I've been there and although the men stare alot they don't do anything,you jsut ignor them. If you're having doubts then go with someone.
