Do things, stay busy. Having a goal makes me happier, because there's something to look forward to. Don't worry about whether or not you're following the right path, because the only way you can know is to try. There is nothing more depressing than being paralyzed by indecision. If there's nothing going for you in your life, you have to fix it yourself, no one is going to do it for you. Your life is what you make it, so go to college, learn a trade, volunteer for a homeless shelter, whatever. Everyone needs something to give their lives purpose and meaning. Go try some stuff, you're bound to find something.

First and foremost,it is necessary that you accept yourself and the fact of life that it cannot always be sweet and nice-that there are times when the going is not good or that there is a possibility of sadness and unhappiness. If it were only sweet and good then you wouldnt enjoy it anyway and start finding fault with that too.
So,to discover yourself, list down your qualities, and what you enjoy doing, what you dislike or do not enjoy. Also list down the people who matter in your life, your family members, your relatives,friends-and who matters to what extent in your life.
Next list down what all things interest you and what you would like to do in life(including a sport,if at all)-which probably will be more than one thing. Then try to put them in order of preference-the maximum amount of time you can spend for each activity-as in work and as a hobby.
And you are already on your way to discovering yourself.
Also try and adopt a philosophy or way of life.
There will be no looking back for you then.
All the Best.

go somewhere, whether it be for a walk, sitting at the park, at the beach, swimming pool anywhere that you can be alone and be alone with your thoughts. think about your past, the present and the future. when you are alone with your thoughts, you feel at peace and you learn to discover who you have become from the point when you were born to the present and where you want to head in the future. you revisit your past fears and depressed times, but in a calm relaxed way so you don't get hurt and you realise that you learned a lesson from these and realise that now that you're in the present you don't go through that pain anymore. you discover your purpose in life- your goals, your dreams, what is your happiness and why you were put here and what you're going to do about it. another great but expensive way is to travel the world or your country alone and meet great people who will share their lives and perceptions with you.

You discover yourself by looking for your true vocation. Once you find your true vocation, you'd see that God calls you to do something to benefit the common good. It's your calling, the thing that you feel you have the purpose to do. It's the highest level for your search of vocation. That's how you discover yourself on one level.

It is through your life experiences that you discover yourself. You find out what you want and don't want, what you like and don't like, what is important to you and not important to you. It takes time, but we are always learning new things.

Ask other people (who is in constant physical contact with you) about yourself. It's like your mirror. Then validate it by yourself. Don't be in denial. Be honest.
