is it safe or not as I heard it can be dangerous because the penis restricts the blood flow.

It is okay to have sex during your period but that does not mean that you should not use a condom. It is still possible for you to get pregnant and also, if you do not use birth control, the blood contains viruses from you that may transfer to your partner. Hope this helps.

What rubbish is that? Even if the penis did restrict the blood flow, it's blood on it's way out of your body, it's serving no purpose. It is entirely safe to have sex on your period, 100%, in fact some women find themselves wanting sex more around the time of their cycle. The only danger posed is that to your sheets. In response to Marie M, there is NO RISK of blood clots. The blood is leaving the body, it is no longer even really 'alive' blood, that's why the colour of the period changes throughout the cycle. There is NO health risk associated with having sex while on a period, expect those mentioned ie you can still get pregnant and still pass on STDs.
Where do these rumours come from?

Its safe to have sex whilst you are on and its rubbish that the penis restricts blood flow. When you are having a period its really up to you if you want sex or not.

Sweetheart it is perfectly safe , perhaps a bit messy, I have been told it helps some woman relax when they are having a period.

As I say it can be a bit messy either put a rubber sheet on the bed then cover that with a bath towel or make love in the bath

Yes, you can definitely have sex while on your period. As stated before, you can still get pregnant and contract STD's so dont let your guard down.

My husband and I have been together for 6yrs now. We have had sex during my period on many occasions, no blood flow problems, no blood clots (totally false-it cannot happen).

Lay a towel down and have a good time!

Hope this helped. Are you married?-I hope your married, cause fornication is no joke.

It is perfectly safe to have sex during a woman's period. There are no ill effects that can come of it. It will be messy though, so some old towels and a damp washcloth are a necessity. Also, you still have to use your regular birth control method.

It is very safe. You can STILL get pregnant, so use a condom! But you won't get diseases or anything like that.

Having an orgasm can actually help with cramps.

It might be messy, so do it in the shower or put an old towel on the bed.

I don't understand why people are 'advising' you to wait! You know whether you want to have sex or not and you know it will be messy so it is your choice! It is completely safe but you could get pregnant so if you are not trying for a baby use protection/birth control!!

Of course you can have sex whilst you have a period. Some people, even catholics only have sex then so not to get pregnant. At one time conraception was not allowed in the catholic faith. The penis would have to be abnormal to restrict blood flow.Say you change 4 times a day,6hrs of blood on the pad.sex say,90minutes but penitration only 15mins in total, the man withdraws to take the edge of his lust, maybe 4times in the 90mins.Therefore the plug is in only 15mins.So the amount of blood on the pad,6hrs(360mins)divided by 15 is only 24.Not much to be restricted anyway. If you are not catholic I am sorry,I presumed you are. They will tell their daughters anything to keep them of SEX....

It is a common question and a common practise. Provided both partners are happy it has no particular risks or health problems.
