teachers, especially after teaching several years, would probably appreciate something more like a box of chocolates or some homemade cookies in a nice tin...something that doesn't sit around. they only have so much room!

I don't know whether you mean at the end of your college semester like in Dec or a regular school year such as May or June. Assuming it's May or June, I think Flowers are nice for that time of year. A card saying you thought she or he was a great teacher is always a good idea in and of itself. I think if it's from your family, as well, then a Visa giftcard that she can purchase almost anything with is a nice safe gesture. It's great when you can personalize but trust me most people are happy to get something that's just really high end that they wouldn't spend on themselves like a pricey Flower Vase or Hand Held Battery powered Sharp Image Massager, etc. I always think it's tougher when shopping for men than women. Good luck!

This year for Christmas I bought my sons Kindergarten teacher a coffee cup from the Hallmark store. Its a cool lookin cup and it has nice little sayings on the side and comes with a stirrer that matches. I also got her a glass apple photo or card holder. Its really cute. :-) But yeah, check a local Hallmark store. They always have cool gifts for people like bosses, teachers, etc...

Gift certificates are always nice. One of the best gift ideas for any teacher at any grade is a handwritten note of thanks for what you have learned or how you've been inspired by that individual. That's a gift not to be forgotten!

Well, my maths teacher is possibly the BEST that I have EVER had (and I'm one of her favourites-I don't know why), so my mum and I are making her a gigantic chocolate freckle (a big chocolate circle thing with heaps of sprinkles and stuff-I don't know, mum hasn't made one for awhile) for the end of the year.

My neighbor's son is a 5th grade teacher and he gets tons of gift cards - for the movies, restaurants, bookstore is popular or Starbuck's.
He loves all of them ... he even gets money ...all of these things supplement his income and helps get him through the year entertainment wise.

Sometimes a gift certificate is better especially for a book store then they can choose their own.

I know this sounds weird, but if it is a woman, trying giving them something from Watkins, like pepper or vanilla. Both are good products and it is something they can use.
