No communism on paper is a good idea but people do have those two traits so it fails. With out them itmight be good though

The communist governments today are failures (and a lot of them are abandoning communism, including China which is more a capitalist dictatorship now).

The problem with communism though (and command economies in general) is that you can't run an economy that way (even if people aren't greedy or lazy) because they tend to create either massive surpluses or massive shortages (which communist countries were notorious for). They also tend to lack incentives and be slow to respond to innovations.

As for why the communist governments appear to be working, North Korea can only feed it's population because of foreign aid and it was the same with the Soviet Union during the cold war (when the US was donated some of their surplus food). Most states that were communist aren't any more and the few that are still communist pretty much are failed states with crippling poverty and deteriorating infrastructure. Communism just doesn't work and it probably can't work, at least not in scarcity which is what we have (although without scarcity you wouldn't need economics).

Communist governments cannot exist, for very long anyway. It takes away the incentive to work and be productive. If everyone is going to get the same amount as I, why should I bust my @ss every day? Why shouldn't I just get on the doles and let everyone else bust their @sses, since they're going to give the same amount to me anyway?

And because of this mentality, that is created by the entitlement government, pretty soon, nobody is working to pay into the system. With nobody paying into it, it falls like a house of cards.

This will happen to a communist system every time.

All governments with the "ist" only want power over the government
the "ism" want to control the minds of the people.
the freedoms allowed with thise systems is all the keep the people going.
crack down on their freedoms and any of those systems will fail, people just quit.

No, and unregulated, "perfect" capitalism would also be ideal if there were no such thing as human greed.

Communism is always a bad idea. It has proven itself to be a failure over and over again.
