i just bought a new black color car.i want to know how to wash it to keep it clean but with no scrartches. is there anything i can do to keep the car from getting scartches??or to make the paint stronger???without hurting the car..thank you

I agree, carwashes are the devil. Anyone who cares about their car paint does the hand-washing thing. Get yourself proper automotive soap, a microfibre wash mitt, and a genuine shammy to dry. That's all you need for the beginning, then you can get fancy with wax and detailing spray.
Oh, and watch out for bird poop and tree sap.
Bird poop will bake into the paint, so it needs to be removed ASAP. Tree sap is a b**ch to remove without damaging paint. Once you have the washing down pat, you'll need to protect the paint with a regular coat of wax. It's not very hard to do, but it can be a good workout.

Stay away from car washes!! Do it by hand yourself with decent car shampoo, not washing up liquid. Don't do it in the sun cos black is hell for showing up dried water marks! Leather off after rinsing. I loved my black car - always looked good!!
