And how do you find their secret bases. are they holes in the wall?

If you are talking about Pokemon diamond/pearl then...

in the underground, to meet friends, they need to be in the same room playing with you. The underground isn't online WiFi.

It's done through a system link, not through Wi-Fi

So you need to have a friend right next to you playing at the same time

yeah they are holes in the wall and yes but only if u connect with them through (2)dual-screen(s)
