The Brady Bunch was a top rated TV show. Monday Night Football was introduced.
Led Zeppelin was played on the same radio station as John Denver.
Saturday morning cartoons included new episodes of The Jetsons and Bugs Bunny.
Michael Jackson was great. O.J. Simpson was known for being a tremendous running back and a friendly, charming interview. Donna Summer burst onto the disco scene. Punk rock found a wide audience.
Food had to be heated in an oven or on the stove (no microwave). You had to physically get up and go over to change the TV channel. The engine in your car would rumble. You had a dial on your telephone and had to actually dial a number. Worse yet, you had to answer the phone or you would never know who was calling (no answering machines).
You could get pulled over by the cops for drinking and driving and they often times would warn you and let you go.
Your car radio only got AM stations in the early 70s. By the mid 70s many people had an underdash FM radio that also had an AFC drift button. FM stations would frequently drift out and the dial would have to be reset. This was often the case regardless of whether or not the AFC button was engaged.
Interstate highways were incomplete. One would travel along nicely on the Interstate for awhile then be detoured off on to a two-lane road for many miles at a time.
In the early 70s, tennis shoes were inexpensive and made mostly out of canvas. Nikes had been introduce by the mid 70s but they were worn exclusively by runners. By the late 70s, non-athletes were being scoffed at for wearing running shoes as casual wear.
In the early 70s, one played tennis with a wooden racket that had a very small head. By the mid 70s, the rackets were made of aluminum but the head was still very small. Tennis balls were white. Baseball and softball bats were exclusively made out of wood.
Avacado leisure suits and platform shoes were cool. Most men wore long hair complete with sideburns.

I remember my parents getting brand new shag carpeting installed. I remember the start of cable T.V.; Saturday Night Live, all kinds of great music (Stones, etc)...I owned bell-bottom blue jeans, a mood ring, a lava lamp, and sported a roach clip with feathers in my hair even tho I only smoked cigarettes!! I also remember air-raid drills at school, news broadcasts about Watergate on t.v., and 8 cent postage stamps. I remember playing outside, being gone all day long, and nobody worried where we were or if a sex offender might find us kids. The 70's were amazing times, and I have many fond memories.

I was in elementary school in the 70s. I had a pair of green and pink plaid bell bottoms that I LOVED. My little sister and I had Pixie haircuts and she loved Dorothy Hamill, the Olympic ice skater. We watched The Love Boat and Little House on the Prairie and I worshipped Shaun Cassidy. I remember the music most -- still listen to a lot of it: The Eagles, Peaches & Herb, Yvonne Elliman...lots more. Movies: Grease, Jaws, Saturday Night Fever (which I wasn't allowed to see until I was much older). Saturday Night Live started in the 70s. We were allowed to play in the neighborhood until the streetlights came on and we were allowed to walk to our friends' houses without an escort. We rode plastic skateboards, played Chinese Jacks, drew our own hopscotch games, and rode our bikes in the street.

lol. yes I was alive and in high school. Platform shoes, bell bottoms, I loved the show Welcome Back Kotter and Three's Company. KC and the Sunshine Band and disco music were all over the radio.
EDIT- All the guys were in love with Olivia Newton-John, and pants were very high waisted, girls wanted haircuts like Dorothy Hamel or Farrah Fawcett, I remember going to drive-in movies. Jaws was a huge movie and Grease. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
