Frank Zappa!!! He helped to keep our right to freedom of speech by testifying before congress and they actually listened. How has he affected me? He entertained me and inspired me to play music. His stance on many issues are still noteworthy to this day and he should have been elected president when he was in the mood. What a great man he was. Not just a humorous musician he was a serious one as well. Go to YOU TUBE and watch his interviews on frontline and the congressional hearings and the interview with the cop. I think he had many solutions that would make this country a lot more peaceful and easier to live in. We would not need to worry about which neighborhoods were safe. Getting lost in a strange town would not be so frightening.

All the great thinkers of the 19th Century, when civilization finally collected it's thoughts. The wise men, the thinkers and inventors who commited themselves to the notion of the advancement of humanity and devoted their whole lives to a specific task. And what rewards both they and the rest of society have enjoyed!
And I don't see it as a "Men's Only" club. If you read from the pages of these true masters of knowledge, you will also learn about the essential roles their wives and families had in their personal successes.
The 19th Century must have been a great time to be alive,
free of todays superficial distractions, amusements, and frivilous preoccupations.
Just an abundance of clean air, wide-open spaces, and being able to move about, free of all of todays continual bombardment of external stimuli.
ahhhh......the "Golden Age of Discovery!"

I'd have to say the band u2. They contribute to 'one' campaign, they're constantly giving money for ending AIDS everywhere, they have brought hope to people across the globe since the time they started playing (Pride (In the Name of Love), Sunday Bloody Sunday, Crumbs from your Table, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Beautiful Day, you name it!), they're one of the reasons that I was born (both my mom and dad are MAJOR u2 fans, and I believe that was one of their common interests when they started going out.), and they've also given me part of the common sense and knowledge that I have with me today. Rock on, U2!!!! <(^_^)>

There is so many different ways of making a contribution, I think we all make some kind of contribution, each in our own way!! I think that care about others take it the furthest and the haters drag it backward!!

Probably Stalin or Roosevelt. The whole genocide thing was nuts, but the US and USSR really went wild with the cold war. We put people in space and on the moon because of it. Great progress, these guys started it.

If I had to pick one, it'd be Stalin.

The responsible everyday people, those you see in the streets doing little heroic deeds. Factory workers, Bakers, Drivers, etc. They contribute to society and they provide service to people.

Those who have given more when they have less to give. BY this, i can'y say Bill Gates and his wife contributed much, although they set aside about 30 billion dollars to the world's needy people (Bill has 58 billion dollars more).
